The 2020 edition of Premier Badminton League (PBL) promises to be the most exciting one because of its format and rules. The PBL schedule was announced earlier by the organizers however, the issues in Bengaluru forced them to shift the matches out of the city and tinker the PBL schedule.

Talking about PBL, the one thing which always gets the maximum attention of the fans is the PBL Points Table. It is the goal of every team to top the PBL Points Table but only the best team is able to achieve that feat. In order to accomplish the numero uno position on the PBL Points Table, the franchises try to get the best players in the auction and here are the top 5 buys from the auction.

Shin Baek-Cheol

The 30-year-old doubles specialist from Korea became one of the most expensive doubles’ players in PBL history after Awadhe Warriors snatched him for 45 lakhs. Looking at the tough PBL schedule, Baek-Cheol’s services will benefit Awadhe a lot in the tournament.

Lee Cheuk Yiu

Heading into the PBL Auction 2020, North Eastern Warriors did not have a single player in their team. Hence, with the aim of finishing high on the PBL Points Table, they splurged 50 lakhs from their purse and acquired the services of Hong Kong’s world number 23, Lee Cheuk Yiu.

Ko Sung Hyun

Former world number 1 doubles player, Ko Sung Hyun joined compatriot Shin Baek-Cheol in the Awadhe Warriors camp after the franchise signed him for a price of 55 lakhs in the auction. Since he has an ample amount of experience, the testing nature of PBL Schedule may not affect his fitness and style of playing.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy

The 19-year-old from Amalapuram became the most expensive Indian player in this year’s PBL auction as the Chennai Superstarz grabbed him for a price of 62 lakhs after fighting an intense bidding war. With two other Indian doubles players present in the Chennai squad, Rankireddy and co. will try to ensure that the team finishes high on the PBL Points Table.

PV Sindhu & Tai Tzu Ying

PV Sindhu was retained by the former champions Hyderabad Hunter for 77 Lakhs. The Asian Games 2018 gold medalist, Tai Tzu Ying was the most sought after player in the PBL Auction 2020. The franchises had high interest in her but the women’s singles star ended up becoming a part of the Bengaluru Raptors team as they awarded her a contract of 77 lakhs for her services.
