    How To Improve All Aspects Of Your Volleyball Offense

    One of the best things about volleyball is that you can practice at home or anywhere without necessarily having a net or a partner. This allows you to improve your volleyball skills by yourself. For your volleyball offense to work, you must have a strong passing. 

    As a volleyball player, there is plenty of volleyball equipment to help you practice at home or anywhere else. A top of the line equipment to improve your offense is the AcuSpike volleyball spike training machine. This machine can help you improve your hitting and timing. 

    In this article, we discuss some of the individual drills you can practice at home or wherever to help you become a successful volleyball player.

     

    • Passing to yourself

     

    This helpful drill can help you improve your passing skills. Get into a passing position and pass the ball straight up in the air so that it can bounce back at you. Keep the ball from hitting the ground. Keep your feet stationary so that you can maintain control. From there, move on to re-positioning your feet while moving side to side or back and forth. 

     

    • Setting to yourself 

     

    This drill can be done in various ways. To help you control your set, try setting the ball while lying on your back. Ensure that your knees are bent. Then have your hands about eight inches above your face, with your hands on the ball in the proper set position. Your forefingers and thumb should form a triangular window. Push up through the ball. You can try and set the ball as many times as you can without moving. 

     

    • Standing while practicing setting

     

    This drill is the same as the one listed above. The only difference is that you do this while you are standing. Re-position your feet to get under the ball. Repeat this drill as much as you can in order to maintain proper control.

     

    • Pass-Set-Pass

     

     Interchange between passing and setting as you are standing. This will help you control the volleyball and even allow you to practice footwork and quick movement.

     

    • Footwork

     

    Having proper footwork is essential for your team’s offense to be successful. Although footwork is a crucial element in volleyball, it is also one of the most challenging volleyball aspects. That’s why you must practice regularly. 

    Tips for proper passing footwork

    • Ensure that stay balanced
    • Read which direction the ball is moving. This will determine your first step and the direction the ball will take. 
    • Keep your movements as simple as possible. Of course, you want to make sure that you beat the ball to the spot with both feet and maintain your balance when the ball comes. 

    The best way to stay balanced and fast is by performing a step-hop. In step-hop, you take one step and then hop with both feet in the direction of the ball. This should be a flowing, controlled motion. You should be able to make quick adjustments on balls to your front back, left, or right. By starting when you are well balanced, you are able to make these adjustments effortlessly in all directions. 

    Great passing footwork allows you to increase your efficiency quickly, which can eventually make you score more.
